    fat loss and strength?

Will loosing fat cause you to loose strength in core lifts. Even if somone maintained every ounce of muscle, if somone lost a say 15 pounds, would their lifts suffer.

No, because the amount of force a muscle can generate is dependent upon the number of myosin binding to actin (contractile units). It is independent of fat. This is why as the cross sectional area of a muscle increases, so does its force capabilities.
We are also assuming, 100% fat-loss is occuring. Also, kcals are energy. . .

thats good to hear, so fat does not offer strength through leverage?

I disagree...Someone who is 250lbs and say 20%bf and he loses 25-30% fat his lifts may suffer. But not nescessarily.

For core lifts like squats, it does have a marked effect most of the time, yes.

Weight, of any kind, = leverage.

ok, the example of 25-30% bf down to about 5% is pretty extreme. If somone went from 17%bf down to 10 % bf, how much strength loss can they expect if any. thanks. specifically on the benchpress.

I never said 5% b/f. My example is he has 50lbs of fat which he loses 25-30% of that which is 12.5-15lbs loss which is far from extreme. The point is you have less total bodyweight and lifts may go down. Answer this- why do you increase your strength during the first 4 weeks of D-bol? Because you have more weight in water. Same thing really. Heck just ask some power lifters if they diet can they lift their 1RM?

my bad for misunderstanding what you said. Here is the thing. I want to go from about 17%bf down to 10%bf.
-should i expect to be weaker when i get down to 10%bf? ok, we have established the fact that weight loss = strength loss due to leverage. nobody can say exactly, but about how much strength can i expect to loose through leverage (assuming every ounce of muscle is kept) if if drop down 7-8 %bf?

-if diet and cardio a couple times a week is perfect, is it possible to maintain 10%bf and continue to make gains and continue to grow at a rate i was growing at before?

Don't know what gains you had but realize gains come a bit easier at first then can taper off. But some b/f is assured if your goal is purely mass. Keeping at 10%+-1% is very possible but do not expect large mass gains, but you could see strength gains depending on your training. Many go for mass gains and accept more fat then diet/cut after watching the type of fats they also eat.

Actually, i kind of checked up on somthing. alot of guys on here bulk up and dont go much past 10-12 %bf. that is bulking up for them. Do you think they could have gained more if they went up to say 17-18%bf?

I think you were asking how long i have been working out and how much i have gained. been working out for 4 years now. IN fact, next monday celebrates my 4 year anniversary with the weight room lol. i have gone from about 120-220 in that time frame. i have always been between 17-20 % fat. its finally time to see what i have done.

as swole cat mentioned earlier weight of any kind offers leverage.
even if you could diet very well without losing much muscle you would also lose weight from:

    bone density
    glycogen stores
    and water loss

aside from this you've got to get your macronutrient timing pretty much spot on whilst dieting if your going to be able to maintain optimal energy levels for your workouts.
