    Bench pressing

Does anyone use Scapular retraction to avoid lifting with the shoulders? Wouldnt that mean you have to use less weight?

my shoulder blades are locked underneath me at all times. since i started doing this, and bringing my elbows down along side instead of flared out, my bench has gone up oh.. 80 lbs or so.

when your elbows are in, instead of out, you're working more tricep and less chest, way less chest. This is a powerlifting movement, not bodybuidling agree? Since you're working your tri's more instead of your chest, your tri's may have gotten bigger, but not as big as your chest would if ur elbows were out , wouldnt you agree?
