Thumbs up Static Holds w/ Delts

Has anyone else out there done a workout w/ "static contraction holds"?
I did that with delts last night (as discussed in the new issue of Flex mag) &
I am more sore today than I have been for a long time after working delts.
    Great workout....give it a try!

Yes, I do them quite frequently and really tense my muscles. It helps my grip strength to as the poundages are much higher than normally.

A static hold is where you hold the weight at a still, contracted position for
(example) 20 seconds (such as supersetting db presses followed by a db
lateral raise held in the top position for 20 seconds).

Or you can just use really heavy poundages that you couldn't possible lift with form and hold it about ten inches away from you. Just keep it about that far out and under tension for 20-30 seconds or so. I do this after my lateral raises or upright row, military presses, push presses.
