405 bench 3X! woohoo!
i never really do one rep max workouts, but i was just curious to see what i'm up to now. my previous high was 340 when i weighed 185. anyways, i loaded up 405 and was able to do it three times, no bounce, perfect form. i know it's probably not a big deal to you guys, but i'm stoked!

not a big deal? dude that is huge weight! great job. how much you weigh now? im 170 and max at 250 is that decent?

this morning i weighed 216. a 250 max is nothing to sneeze at when you weigh 170.

That's super good. I am 5-8lbs lighter and my 1RM is 315lbs but I am not one who lifts very heavy all the time as risk of injury increases twofold. And at middle age it is easier to do. But bicep curls I can do 135lb for reps not too bad .

I was curious to as how tall you were and was that a raw lift? (raw meaning no bench shirt). That is a great lift. I just had friend compete at a power lifting comp and someone your weight lifting more than twice there weight would make a strong contender for the competition. When I hit 405 3xs it was a great feeling but than again, I do not weigh anywhere close to 185lbs. Good Job

Good job, bro on the 405 for three. I will be there by my next cycle in March '05, but I am a little bit heavier than you 227lbs.

good job bro.. im jealous.. the best i could do on my last cycle was 385 weighing 180... i wanted 4 plates more then anything only 20 more lbs!! but couldnt get it.. next cycle for sure tho... !!

405 is killer, i can only do 335 for 3 reps flat bench and 315 for 3 on incline. and 250 for smaller bros in very descent, just keep working and the weight will go up. attitude is very important for me when lifting heavy i get mad at the weight and defy it to keep me from pushing it through the roof! when lifting for max get mean. and never be disapointed at not being able to lift as much as other guys, use it as motivation to try harder, as long as you are giving your all you should feel good

Bench shirt.....Think of it a a giant rubber band that when the weight goes down it stretches toward the bottom which then lifts a good chunk of the weight back off of your chest and up to a certain height where they proceed to lock out their arms and consider it a set.
If they can use bench shirts I want to be able to use a forklift to help me get it off my chest too.

Impressive man. What kind of work do you do for your chest? I have been stuck at 405lb as a one rep for a considerable time now and am getting frustrated. What methods have you taken to get over the hump since getting up there in weight. The heavier the weight the slower the progress it seems.

3 sets incline dumbell

3 sets of pec dec/flyes/or cable crossover
3 sets of dips
i haven't been going to failure on every set, but probably about 60-70% of them.
