    Question Shoveling Snow

Quick question for you guys.......If you woke up first thing in the AM and shoveled snow for approximately 1 1/2 would that be a good cardio workout on an empty stomach. Assuming you had your polar heart monitor and you were at 65%-75% of you max heart rate????

Any advise or input would be greatly appreciated....

I find it impossible to keep your heart-rate at that percentage shoveling snow.

Then again, I've never shoveled snow.

I tried to keep the heart rate up but it was so cold that I did not want to look at the watch to see how accuarte it was however it was a combination of a snow blower and shoveling snow!!!!!!

When I was on M1T it snowed and I got a mad back pump from shoveling. It was pretty sweet.

Like swole said, I doubt your target heart rate was there. The snow closed my gym today, I drove all the way there just to find out those lazy mother fvckers didn't feel like opening up. I am going to give them a piece of my mind tomorrow.

I was shoveling too today and it felt pretty good. Unless you are like speed shoveling, I don't think it's a good cardio.

i have a plow business and im always shoveling. i think if your consistantly bending down pickin up snow you can maintain a high heart rate. i have one account that is a row of 20 condos and i have to shovel the entire walk way. i time myself and it usally takes about 45 min. and im haulin ass. when im done im sweating and breathing heavy. ive never checked my heart rate, but im sure its up their.

I think it's possible.. but much harder than cardio...Shovelling anything will put strain on your muscles...If anything it'll be more akin to lifting weights than doing cardio..cus you'll be sore the following day...I don't think that's the effect you're looking for

There is no doubt its going to contribute both to Cardio and muscle conditioning. Unless you use a snowblower..
