on the B-T-N press,....i am confused on how far you should bring the bar down. I have always touched my traps with the bar and then up.....AND now i see people in my gym that go to base of their head and then up.
Although, i have been seeing fantastic results with this......could it lead to an injury?/.
behind the neck has no greater growth potential than in the front. Your risking an injury by doing them behind the neck. just my .02
Stay away from them ..end of story. Lower back and shoulder injury are very real and the btn has shown to be the LEAST effective at stimulating the intended muscle.

most experts say its a dangerous excersise.
If ya wann hit the rear delts do som bent over lateral raises or face pulls, but stay the **** away from BTN press.
I've been doing BTN presses for 20 years. Couldn't imagine doing shoulders without them! That being said, my shoulder acts up a few times per year ;)
it could lead to injury depending on the weight and reps your doing ive seen people swear by it and those who spit at it.

Wow I bet all the money in the world this stupid lift ****ed my shoulder to hell. OUCH IT STILL HURTS. Started doin them with my buddy he loves them. And to top it off we do them on the smith machine. Just recently found out that machine is more likely to cause injury.
But it does make me sore as hell the next day.
THINK im gonna stop doin em though. It dosnt sound like a good idea anymore
Worst fuking excercise in the book. Everytime I do them I tear a trap. That goes for Behind Neck Pull Downs as well. Stay away from both of them bro.

works well till the bar is in front of your nose.
i have been doing BTN Press for about 4 years now ... up to 275x4-5 and my shoulders are fine .. the trick is to spare your rotator cuff and connective tissue by NOT GOING DEEPER than Parallele (meaning u make a T) this will usually place the bar right inline with your ears and ur upper arms are parallele w/ the floor. works great. made me extremely broad EXTREMELY BROAD only problem is my arms are way to small im comparison to my torso and i look like T-Rex :(
i've found that using dumbells one can get a btn type feel by making your arms stick out exactly 180 degrees (really pulling them back), but w/out the risks of btn's.
