Why wouldnt you want to push your muscles to their max potential. If you dont go in to the unknown you will never know what is there.

In a word....no. Working to failure can be a nice change of pace but certainly not something I would do each and every workout and/or set.

If you do, just realize that it will take longer to recover and you will not be able to train as frequently.

    i second that as well.

i would do my first set to failure and then work on things close to failure rest of the way.

ex. bench start with bench press, keep it (4-6, if i am trying to get mass) and have 3 sets of those (make sure you have a buddy)
then incline dumbell press a reps of 10, and 2-3 sets. and then decline flies reps of 10, 2-3 sets. oh yea those reps of 10 should be semi-uncomfortable, but not easy.

thats just an example but thats how i have been doing my workouts and they have been great.
