Help me construct a workout plan for my dad!

My dad is in his 50's and is 6'1, 330 lbs and needs to lose a lot of body fat. He wants to start light weight training. He has an abdominal hernia, so I don't know if he'll be able to squat or not.

I was hoping I could get some help constructing a workout program for him. Something very basic, 3 or 4 days a week, to help him speed up his metabolism and drop some fat.

    Thanks guys.

i put my dad on the standard push pull workout.
    sunday chest/sh/tri's
monday back/bi/legs(he can't do much b/c of knee trouble
    tuesday off
    wednesday chest/sh/tris
    thursday back/bi legs

just keep reps high and don't let him rest too long between sets so he can get the cardiovacular effect from the workout

Sounds more like he needs a diet and cardio program more than anything. No offense to you or your Father....

If he is 300lbs, I imagine he has a solid base under there from carrying it around. He would probably have a lot easier time getting into training if he lost weight first...

i would honestly put him on a light weight circet training and pwo cardio
the light weight resistance should help w/ stability and connective tissue and utilize the majority of his instant energy then have him do cardio pwo after he is depleted of carbs to burn fat for fuel.
as he builds up his base he can start specializing in muscle groups prolly after 3 monthes of dedication.

as for my dad, he can't do cardio b/c of the bad knee so i have him doing uptempo workout to start off with to get him used to weights. AFter a while i am going to have him circuit train and eventually start cardio when he is able
