the first book i ever bought was the musclemag encyclopedia to bodybuilding. That was pretty useful. Then once i had gotting into a training a bit i read brawn and Mike mentzers HIT. They were also informative. I then read the DC training style and then chose to invent my own approach altogether.
So to answer your q no i have no idea on those two books. I have heard good things about a book called supersquats but personally i would say start off with the encyclopedia, read it cover to cover, buy another book and do the same and keep going.

this is how im training now. I wouldnt reccomend training this way till you know what you can and cant do and what actually works for you. Feel free to post here or PM me if you have any questions.

Honestly, by taking time and reading this site in all key areas (diet/workout/supplement forums) it would do more good and have more tactile information than a book would. There are a lot of people here who know their sh*t.
You also have all of the up to date information here, w/the extended ability to ask more questions. Not something you can do w/a book.
