Always together. I like to get legs out of the way. Squats and stiff legs can be a real killer though.

I mix it up. If i feel like my hams are lagging, ill prioritize and give them their own day. Its hard to JUST work the quads without also incorperating your hams also.

I have done them together and seperate. I find I can obviously do more weight seperatly but did not see better growth either way.

I do them together. I've tried them separate and feel that training them together works best for me.

I seperate them. Like Big Ole' said you can't work one without the other but by splitting them I can hit each group of muscles freash allowing me to go heavy as I want.

For Quads I like narrow stance Squats, leg extentions, Smith machine squats with legs forward of the bar, front squats and step-ups.

For hamms I'll do SLD's, wide stance squats, lunges and leg presses and leg curls.

    Try this.

Warm-up, Stretch and 10-15 minutes cardio, get some blood flowing

6 Sets Squats.. Feet touching and DEEP (pyramid up)
    1-15
    2-12
    3-10
    4-8
    5-6
    6-6

2 Sets Squats.. Wide Stance and of course DEEP

    1-8
    2-8

4 Sets Box Lunges ( set a walking box up in front of you and do lunges onto it leaving your back leg on the ground, do one leg at a time )

    1-10
    2-8
    3-6
    4-12

4 Sets Leg Extensions (pyramid up)

    1-12
    2-10
    3-8
    4-8

4 Sets SLD (shoulder width stance and pyramid up)

    1-10
    2-8
    3-6
4-15 ( I enjoy burning out the last set on these with a lighter weight and making it hurt)

4 Sets Seated Curls super set with hip inductors and abductors ( The machines on these only go so high... and being in a new gym im embarresed so far to ask someone to stand on the stack so I just did sets of 12 reps on these)

    1-12
    2-12
    3-12
    4-12

And there ya have it.. should have you walking silly for a little bit.

I'll try it Big Ole'........the way you suggested doing the step ups is exactly how I already do them....which makes me feel better knowing someone else does them this way as well. Here recently I've been doing them with a barbell on my shoulders. Before I was doing them holding a couple of 65 pound dumbbells. For leg extentions I've been doing 21's....toes up, toes out and toes in....God that burns like a mofo!
