Always together. I like to get legs out of the way. Squats and stiff legs can be a real killer though.

I mix it up. If i feel like my hams are lagging, ill prioritize and give them their own day. Its hard to JUST work the quads without also incorperating your hams also.

I have done them together and seperate. I find I can obviously do more weight seperatly but did not see better growth either way.

I do them together. I've tried them separate and feel that training them together works best for me.

I seperate them. Like Big Ole' said you can't work one without the other but by splitting them I can hit each group of muscles freash allowing me to go heavy as I want.
For Quads I like narrow stance Squats, leg extentions, Smith machine squats with legs forward of the bar, front squats and step-ups.
For hamms I'll do SLD's, wide stance squats, lunges and leg presses and leg curls.

I'll try it Big Ole'........the way you suggested doing the step ups is exactly how I already do them....which makes me feel better knowing someone else does them this way as well. Here recently I've been doing them with a barbell on my shoulders. Before I was doing them holding a couple of 65 pound dumbbells. For leg extentions I've been doing 21's....toes up, toes out and toes in....God that burns like a mofo!
