Shoulder press
I was just wondering guys what you would consider a good weight to lift on the shoulder press. I mean the flat standing with the olympic bar doing press behind the neck and front. I did 225lbs last night for 3 sets of 7 reps, just wondering what others were lifting

I did 225 on the smith machine for 5 this morning, but i typically do around 185 for 8 with the olympic bar. both seated. I can do 85 lb db for 5. I definitley should be able to do more. I must be a pussy.

Body weight for reps or 80% . Do not do behind the neck, its not a natural position.

when going behind the neck, your shoulders are at the point of dislocation. never do anything behind the neck.

nice info guys- interesting point about behind the neck- never thought about it that way.
Basically i am flat standing legs parallel and i just lift the bar in a clean and jerk motion and then begin to press. I have never really know what is a lot and how strong i am compared to other people so thats why i am asking, cheers guys
