    Cool Curiousity?

Can ANyone Benchpress 2x their body weight? Is that pretty unheard of? I can do 280 and my friend flipped because i only weight about 160-165. he said it was A-mazing when i did it. so can anyone do it?...

yeah people can do it...just not me. Bench has always been my weakest lift. I can squat about 2.5X my weight, deadlift a whole heap too. but when it comes to bench, I'm not that strong. Although I haven't benched with a barbell in a long time so I don't really know my max now, I just use dumbells.

4 years ago I was benching 315lb at 170lbs. But that is only about 93% of body weight. Not bad ,not great just a ego thing at the time. All natural too.

That's about 175% of your bodyweight. 200% means you would have to press about 320 or so. . .
    200% is pretty uncommon.
175% is really good, but more appropriate for someone who has their training and diet together. . .

That's about 185% bro. . . 93% of your bodyweight of 170lbs means you would be benching 158lbs

Actually, NO! You cannot do it. You would have to press 320, not 280, and stay the same bodyweight. My post said it was uncommon, not that you couldn't do it, but since you ask. . .

There's a 1000lbs bench in the powerlifting forum and the guy must be around 300. Which is more than 300% is bodyweight. (Althought he has a benching shirt on)
