From what I have been reading a fast walk is best for buring fat and retaining muscle. I have been doing the fast walk for a couple weeks now and it seems to be working fine.

Try both and see which keeps your heart rate where you need it to be best. Everyone is different. Go by your heart rate.

Seems like the fast walking works best for me! And not much wear and tear on the joints.

i run at 5.0 for 2.30 secs, then walk at 3.8 at a 5.0 incline for 10 mins, i repeat thsi 4 times n it seems to work great, i get a pretty good cardiovascula workout, n keep my heartrate in the target zone(it goes over alittle but i like the little extra, also i ve heard interval training is the most effective, but my interval has no scientic proof behind it, jsut what i like n what i feel keeps my in best shape witout sacraficing to much muscle loss
