how bad is it missing workouts?

This week was kind of a bad week... close family member got in a bad car accident and had to spend most of the week in the hospital since last wed. Was not able to workout due to being there for a family member and just I know I wouldnt be able to... I mist my shoulder workout on friday and my chest and tris workout today... Should I just continue my workout and work them out a little bit harder?

continue to work out as normal, don't overtrain. make sure you are eating properly though. I'm sorry to hear about your family member, I hope all is well.

Buddy it is actually recomended to take a week off once in a while. So dont worry about it. I read in many mags. that you should take off a week every 3-4 weeks.

By taking off a week once in a while you are resting your muscles. It has been proven that when you do come back from taking off a few says that your strength has increased.

I'd take a week off, but never once a month!!!!!!

    Once every 12 weeks, yes.

Yeah sometimes when I hit a plateau it's one of the things I go for is maybe a couple days of rest, I come back stronger. but if I'm not in a plateau and I'm seeing results, why stop?
