    powerlifter style vs. bodybuilder style

my question is y are some powerlifters that can bench 400lbs still small?i know they train differently and all but they still do pyramid and peek for the comp. So y dont they grow during the pyramid leading the comp???

Because powerlifting is more about strength and not size/shape like bb.

I'm really confused about this too...you would think they would still put on mass with how they train.

Look at all of the massive powerlifters! It's true that some can lift a lot more than their looks would lead you to think...but that is not the norm at all. A work out mixing both powerlifting and bodybuilding is what I've been doing and the results are coming along.

They work on technique, form, neural recruitment, and having the bar travel the least distance possible. That is a far cry from hypertrophy and BB'ing.

Actually, most powerlifters do not follow the kind of pyramid training you are thinking of (not the successfull one's anyway). I spent 10 years powerlifting and I rarely did over 5 reps including warm-ups and most of my training was in the 1-3 rep range which is good for strength building but not size. Also, powerlifting equipment (shirts, suits, ect...) has become such a joke that all you have to train is your lockout and technique. Very few pro's do any heavy full range benching, they train specifically for the bench shirt.
