i have tried both and gotten the best gains with a combor pyramid. My flat bench routine looks somehting like this and it is the best one i have ever done. You did not mention if you were going for strength, suze , or endurance, but this seems to give me a good combo of all three.
1. 135- 25 reps
2. 225- 15 rep
3. 275- 8 reps
4.295- 6 reps
5.315-5reps
once a month i had a really heavy set of like two here, usually 350-365
6. 225- 15-20 times (burnout)
when i finish this my chest is smoked. try out something close tweaked up however you want, i think you will like it.

heavy and low for the first barbell exersize
moderate and moderate for the rest
you didnt say what is best for chest? what is best? strength or mass...you didnt say
for plain mass, i always pyramided like no more said down to about 2 reps
for more strength, i usually pyramid up by 3's and then drop to singles
