worst part of deadlifting for you..

What’s the worst part of deadlifting for you. for me it’s the first inch,at the start of the movement, It takes me longer to pick it up of the ground than it dose the hole lift but once I get going I’m ok...anybody ells find this...

I usually start with it up on a stability bar so I don't have to bend over to get the initial lift... I can imagine that sucks though... I have the hardest time toward the end when the viens in my head are near exploasion and I think I am going to blow up.... sometimes I give up at this point.

I cant even do em anymore, the worst part was that first inch tho, you gotta explode off the floor. I hurt my back a while ago from doing them without a belt ( ya i know, stupid me ) but anyway just my .02

I have some troubble keeping my back arched a the begining of the movement when I go heavy so the start is the worst part for me. I do some deadlift standing on a box to work on this weakness and its da bomb makes it alot easier to get the weight of the ground.

Starting from the ground is the only way to do it IMO. Getting it off the ground up to my knees is the hardest for me. I have long arms and a strong back but, I also have long legs witch sucks.

Getting it off the ground is the hardest for me. The other thing that I don't like is that when I finish with a set, I am very winded. It's like I can't get enough air into my lungs. I sit around for a few minutes, catch my breath, then I am fine.

What is the closest replacement for deads that any of you do if you have a bad back?

already do chins/rows... looking for something else

    hyper extensions? good mornings?

    thanks

the hardest part about deadlifts for me is functioning the next day. I think they call them deadlifts because your dead the day after. I'm good until I get 520 or so on the bar, then i starts getting heavy. I actually do them every other week now as opposed to every week. It gets me stronger and gives me more energy come heavy leg days.

the hardest part for me is the last few inches. I'm very fast off the floor and start to struggle at about mid-thigh. Body structure has a lot to do with deadlifting. I have short arms and a long torso which means I'm locking out above my nuts.

Remember to start the lift by trying to drive your heels through the floor.

I did deadlifts today from 2 inches below the knee and it was really hard to get any type of power going I could only get 405 ahh what the hell. Maybe I'm wrong and off the floor is easier

Since I had a back injury, this is the only way I do deads<power rack below the knee> I believe you should be able to move a lot more weight from that point.

I thought so too...weird. I may have been rounding my back a little bit cuz my back starting getting pretty sore. I'll have a partner check it next time. Also I wasn't really feeling my best .

i dont go heavy anymore, i kinda like the rep thing for deads....no injuries or stiff back. but the part about deads off the ground , that i hate, is freaken loading and unloading the bar, you know pick up one side, slide plates on....pick up the other side, slide plates on....... and the hardest is the first few inches, both my arms dont straigthen out all the way, so it really makes for a long pull

For me, once it's off the ground, it's up. If there is no liftoff after 2 quick seconds, it won't go up The liftoff part is the hardest!

I used to use higher rep schemes for deadlifts, but I dont go above 8-10 reps anymore. I'll do sets like 10, 8,6,4 usually. It's such a big movement that when you get over 10 reps with serious weight it's like cardio almost, sucks all the air from you.

yeah i hate that part too....when the bar is on the fvcking ground....and u have to lift to put the 45 then lift the other side to put a 45...then go back to the 1st side...lift it up.and put on another 45 then go to other side..etc.... ....this should be done on non-workout days

I almost never go above 7 reps in dead. Just makes me lose form. I leave the higher reps for squat wich works basicly the same muscles anyway(if done with a pl stance)
