Even with them facing towards you the majority of the work can be done by the lats.

Also the wider your hands are, the faster and wider your back will grow.

Err, no, I have to disagree. Get a comfortable width. But if you go unnaturally wide you'll damage your shoulders.

Short answer: yes. Many swear by them. Along with deadlifts and bent rows, include them and you'll have a thick, wide back.

I didn't mean go to the point of injury, but the wider your hands are spaced out the more stress is put on your lats, so they will grow quicker since they have to do more of the work, but I am in agreence that you don't want your hands so wide that you are causing more harm then good.

if you i pull to the front i contract my lats to a greater degree. when i pull to the back i can flex my scapula a bit better which will build my iner back and lower traps more than the front pulls.

Weighted pull ups on a wide grip is a killer deal for back width.

There's no such thing, you just dont need to add weight to them like most of us. How much do you weigh anyways? With my weight and the weight I put on the belt I get right about 300lbs and I can still do 7 pulls.

First time is always the hardest, To get started use the cheat method and get some one to hold your feet, this helps you get the lift, do more cable pull downs and you will soon be pumping out ten unaided pull ups in no time

Or start narrower. You won't hit the lats as much, but better narrow than not at all.
