Abs, How often
How often are you guys with six packs hitting your abs? How many sets and what hits them best? Also at what % bodyfat do the abs start to show? I'm sitting at 16% and while I can feel the ab muscles I can't see them

i might do a set of leg raises a week if i get boared. i guess i'm lucky when it comes to abs but low bodyfat is the key to abs i feel. it's nice not to have to hit abs because i hate crunches but i would rather be like the guys that do absolutely nothing for their calves and the look awesome because mine suck.damn genetics!

Treat them similar to any other body part... they are still muscles, and depending on how hard you work them, muscle needs time to recover... if you are taking it relatively low intes. 3x a week could work... I do them 2x one day heavy and other more repitition... works for me, may not work for you.

Abs 5 nights a week, alternating upper and lower exercises. Cable crunches 3 nights and leg raises 2 nights.

I'm on a "4 on-1 off" split and hot them twice during the split. I guess that works out to be 3 time a week.

Abs are friggin hard to overtrain. Do not treat them as you would treat any other muscle group. Hit them hard and often. 3 to 5 times a week and they'll still grow. The same, but not to such a large degree implies to the calves.

3x a week if that. upper, lower, bends, and twists. Usually one exercise each time 3-4 sets reps vary, usually heavy and 15-20 rep range.

I'd like to do them 4 times a week, but usually just twice. Once upper and once lower.

ill hit abs a lil bit every time im in the gym, but im natrually skinny so i dont even really have to work em out to make em show lol... but on average about 4times a wk, i wouldnt use machines cuz when i was using ab machines and cables my stomach started to get thick and waist began to get a lil bigger.. i would stick to crunches, leg lifts and side crunches if u wanna tone em up good

I like to hit them 2-3 times a week. My favorite exercise for abs is standing with the rope on the cable machine right above my head and bringing my elbows down to my knees slightly bent. I typically put around 80-100 pounds on it and pretty much just do standing crunches. Don't know what these would be called, but I just call them standing cable crunches, works for me.

If I got what you said correctly I think they're called prayers.

I train once a week...and that's only during contest prep.
The rest of the year i don't. They're usually visible year-round...and they get a lot of indirect work from heavy deads, squats, and military pressing. I think direct-training...unless sport-specific, is unnecessary

Same here, I rarely train abs. I have always been able to see my abs even while fully bulked up. Cardio and diet are key for abs.

Since I dont have a single digit bf%, and I have a keg pack, should i still be really concentrating hard on doing ab workouts right now? Im thinking that I should get my bf% quite a bit lower, and then to start really working hard on the abs. I figure that if I work hard on them right now, its kind of pointless since I have this layer, okay layers, of fat around my stomach. What do you guys think?
