What part of the deltoid does this exercise hit?

What part of the deltoid does this exercise mostly hit? The front, rear, or side deltoid?

    http://abcbodybuilding.com/excercise...20laterals.htm

It says on this site, that it hits the side but I don't feel it there.

    Any thoughts?

don't waste your time with that exercise. The range of motion is limited and does little to activate the front of your deltoids. Check out deltoid circles on abc if your looking for a new one.

Since your upper arm is traveling from shoulder level to above the head, you'll also be activating your traps. How? The traps elevate the shoulders.

if you're looking to hit your medial delt head then here's your best bet, when doing a side lateral turn the dumbell in your hand so that the "pink end" of your hand leads the way and keep your elbow higher than your hand, very hard to use heavy weight but form is a must when training medial delts, if perfect form is not used than the traps come into play and anterior delt head and the exercise is no longer hitting your medial delt head!
