My last post about bent laterals, I promise lol

Are bent laterals same as bent rows? If so than I know what I'm doing.

Just a simple yes or no will go a longggggggg way...

    Thanks,
    -Matt

I would assume so since lateral would be across. I have never refered to them as bent laterals though.

Fuk i know what those things are.... Bent laterals are basicly a side deltoid lateral raise but you are bent over or seated and bent over. It can be perfomed using a cable machine also using the crossover function of the cables.

They work the same muscle group basicly. They both hit the rear deltoid. bent over rows with the barbell would be more for mass IMO and bent over laterals would be for shits and giggles.

bent over rows are more of a compound movement hitting the majority of the back.. rear laterals are for more so specifically isolating the rear deltoid.

Jersey, the deltoid is made up of three heads... the front delt side delt and rear delt, raising a dumbell to the front hits the front and side hits the side and rear hits the rear.

the only way to hit the rear though in a way where you can contract at the top for rear delts is easiest by bending over and moving in the same motion as if you were standing doing sides...

bend over have the dumbells at arms length extended to the floor, raise them out and up till you finish where your arms are parallel to the floor.

if you dont get that, ask some trainer at the gym

actually look at is this way.

bent is an operative word here... bent laterals ...bent rows

a lateral motion is different from a rowing motion....

    get it?

now imagine a side lateral ... is that the same as a rowing motion? ... NO

bent laterals ...hmmm bend over and lateral from the floor to the sky...

I cant believe I'm typing this again!

No. You would have to do a bent-over row with a wide, pronated grip and make sure that you pulled the bar to the chest on each rep. If you did this, the basic difference is that the bent-over row would be a multi-joint exercise (mass) and the bent-over lateral would be a single-joint exercise (isolation).

if you want to work you rear delts then while doing laterals, at the top of the movement act as if your are pouring out a glass of water, this really stresses them more

Same as everyone else said with the bent laterals, they are a side lateral while bent over, focusing on the rear delt.

A great way to isolate the rear delt is to do this exercise face down on an incline bench like you are doing the opposite of a fly.
