neuromuscular coordination
ive heard some guys on the board and other places mentioning this being associated with complex lifts...
lifts that employ multiple muscle groups but at the same time require a lot of coordination by the muscles in order to keep form
two particular types of lifts come to mind - the hang cleans (or any clean) and the chest flies
reason being is because the movements must be coordinated by the body, while at the same time they work several of the largest muscle groups
from what i gather also is that this "coordination" done by the muscle groups is what helps strengthen existing tissue as opposed to adding new tissue
anyone know if this is true/accurate information?

Neuromuscular coordination is where the nervous system and the body's muscles learn to work together more efficiently. When you bench press with dumbbells for the first time, the concentric and eccentric movements might not be smooth. The movement might be a little shaky. As you perform the movement over the coming weeks, your nervous system will become more efficient. This is when the muscles will be performing more of the work rather than the nervous system. The hang clean (multi-joint) is much more complex than the db flye (single-joint). It will take a much longer time for the nervous system to adapt to the hang clean. Db flyes will require more neuromuscular coordination than a pec deck.
