    Help with leg routine. Please.

OK everyone Ive got a herniated disc in my lower back (at L4-L5). I had two but I had an operation (Feb. 2005) on the one at L5-S1. Ive been working out 5 days a week but the squats are really starting to wreck my back. I dont even go really heavy and I usually use a Smith machine. Anyways I need for my legs to grow and strengthen but Ive really got to lay off of the squats for a while. Any advice on a decent routine would be great. Thanks.
