Wide grip upright rows good for side delts?

Do you guys recommend doing wide grip upright rows for side delts? I'm kind of getting bored with seated lateral dumbell raises and thought I'd give these a shot.

I plan on doing them 4 sets, reps of 10,8,6,4 while increasing weight each set.

I believe they are superior for increasing muscle fiber size in the medial deltoids. You have a leverage advantage with the wide-grip upright rows and this allows you to use more resistance.

    are you using straps??

to grow you need to change the exercise that you are doing.. and to use heavier weights..

I have a strong grip.. but by using straps or hooks, you can engage the muscles that you want and get a better load..

I've used straps for shrugs but not upright rows.

If I use them for upright rows, will I be able to do heavier poundages, thus helping my side delts grow?

Yes! When I've plateaued on upright rows (I've used them for single-joint exercises like barbell curls, side laterals, etc.), I put the straps on and busted through the plateau.
