do it on the smith machine and lean forward liek you would fall over if you werent holding onto that bar. this has helped me a lot.
At my gym there is a bar that is curved in the middle, looks like this: -------\_____/-------- It works perfectly for behind the back shrugs.
haha I had a thread exactly like this like a month ago. I do them on the smith machine now
Behind-the-Back DB Shrugs allow the user to avoid the glutes.
For some reason I cant get dumbells behind my back. Lack of flexibility maybe?Quote:

So when I occasionally do shrugs behind the back I 'll use the smith or if there's no smith you can go to a sqat rack (the box type) and slide it across the bars. Just pick it up and pull it towards the bars while leaning forward.
I hate that..i feel like im gonna crush my ballsQuote:

Not applicable for most male trainees...as the heavy dumbells used can't be comfortably held in that position...if you can get 'em in that position at all.Quote:

set the safety pins of the smith machine to a position 1" below your maximum stretch position.Quote:

The slippery factor can be negated by simply:
using straps; chalk; or sponge... I often use sponge (like the kind that's on the inside of cushions) to reinforce my grip when i dead lift; chin; curl etc.
I stopped doing front shrugs completely.Quote:

Nark, where do you get these sponges? they would be ideal for my deads since im approaching weight that my grip can't handle very well...Quote:
