Kick it up a notch just like the others said, but aswell everything else if your traps are the domanant part of your body. Many other muscle being improved will make chest gains easier and more efficiant.

If you do any direct trap work, just take it out so you can dedicate more exercises to your weak points. Once you've reached your desired level of mass in your weak areas, you can think about adding work back in for the traps.

IMO, ignore what the trainer said. What are his credentials? What you said would hypertrophy your mid to lower trapezius even more. I'm an NSCA certified personal trainer and strength and conditioning specialist. Place chest first in the week, when you are freshest.

Bang on!!! Right from the start! I had this problem with my biceps of all things... They used to look retarted and I never used to work them at all.
Everything else filled in great, Give it some time!
    You'll see!

ok this is due to the fact that your trap is engaging instead of your shoulder due to poor posture. Stand infront of the mirror and lift you arm up as if you were doing a lateral lift. your shoulder should do all the work but in most people the trap kicks in about half way through the lift. You just need to concentrate on using your shoulder only on your shoulder days, it will be hard to begin but you should get the hang of it in a few weeks, I had the same problem and this worked, it is just kinesiology at work.

You almost got it, not quite though, the reason your traps are bigger than your chest and back is because you are not relaxing your traps when engaging in chest and back exercises. This is the reason why many people plateau on chest and back, your traps can only get so far ahead. This is the first rule of posture while performing these exercises. Your trainer sucks. Next time, ask a NASM trainer. They are the only ones worth a shi+. By the way, if you want my credentials, I have NASM CPT.

well is that not what I said there mr. I don't give a shit what your creditionals are, any knucklehead can pass a test to get a designation. I did not get that from my trainer, which I don't have one, I got that from chiro school, it is that his trap is engaging ie not staying relaxed, it is silly that you even put that gay owned thing and you said nothing different from me.

I also forgot to add make sure you emphasise keeping your shoulder blades together throughout the chest exercises, this will help emphasise the chest.

I have a similar problem....the left side of my body is much stronger because the right side of my body engages secondary muscles on compound exercises...especially in my upper body.

Have you ever thought of going to a chiro and having them do a scan of your muscles to see which ones are firing wrong and then having the chiro do some work on you, i am telling you it will make a world of difference. It sounds like you may need it.

Is that sarcasm, if so funny, but I was just saying this because I use to rotate my shoulders foward during presses and my chest would not grow and my traps and shoulders got huge.
