What is this new trend im seeing??

ive been seing alot of people saying their gonna work a muslce group once a weak, n only do one exercise for that muscle, using 1 warmup n 3 workout sets??? idk if this works cause ive never tried it, but man that seems like XTRME undertraining, yet i see alot of people doing it, y is this??when i first started posting on this board it seemed like everyone was doing the one bodypart a week, around 14 -16sets for big bodyparts, 6-8 for smaller muslces, , or the twice a weak mon wed fri method, j/w why so many people r trying this?

When I do 6 sets for a bodypart, I'm doing 100% intensity from set one onwards. If I was to do just two sets split between two different exercises, I just wouldn't feel like I had done anything major. I think the muscle needs to be broken down further with more sets to achieve growth, but that is my opinion. Who knows what is more effective.

There is also the idea that one set at 100% intensity is enough because you have already trained to your optimum. This is rubbish IMO, because subsequent sets at 100% will cause more damage and probably cause more growth.

This is logical, but I'm not sure if it's practical for EVERYONE. I lowered my volume and frequency three months ago and have noticed accelerated improvement. I didn't lower it to the amounts above, but I could see it working. Dorian Yates trained like this but he was taking blah blah blah so not a great comparison, but I did notice better gains with lower freq and volume from a very routine 2/1 6day split to a 4/3 with fewer sets.

everyone is different. ive never tried a 5-6day split. right now this PL routine is producing the best gains.

Harder yes but duration is a key factor here
train REALLY hard for 30min or NOT so really hard for an hour.. u will get way more gains from the 30 min session than the latter.

i think during a plateau six weeks of low volume may be a good idea, i do it during intense cardio . my psychi is when doing heavy cardio its easier for the muscles to repair under low carb conditions
