Anyone think its good to have a training partner? I have one but hes much weaker then me but i guess its my fault for telling him to come work out with me it's a kind of a hastle to keep on taking the plates off and stuff but its good to have him for the spots....but i don't know i trained alone today and i felt real good it's nice training alone without talking to anyone ......anyone feel the same way????

I personally train alone at the gym. If I need a spot then I'll ask one of the guys that isn't doing anything. I would like to have a trainning partner who is equally dedicatied and somewhat equal in strength, who would be there just for business, and just to push each other further, but for right now that ain't happening and I'm happy either way.
I ALWAYS train alone. I don't like to talk to anyone or be bothered by anyone when I lift. I put on the headphones and take myself to a very scary place. This is what works for me, but I think It's a personal thing, everyone is different.
I like to train alone. Things go much quicker that way.
A good training partner is a must IMO. Notice I said a good training partner not someone you have to carry through a workout. Having good partner will make your workouts much more effective. The hard part is finding a partner with the same goals and work ethic. If you've never had a good partner you probably can't relate but he'll push you when your slacking, he'll keep your rest times on track, and if he's stronger or bigger he'll give you something to shoot at.

The problem with me and a training partner is that I've never found one who is dedicated enough to show up even half the time. And then when I do have a regular partner they just stand around asking me what we're going to do. I'd be happy with one that would show up, on time, every time.
If I didn't have a partner I'm not sure I'd be in the gym even once a week. He doesn't have to drag me there or anything, but when you know someone is expecting you to be there all of the excuses go out the window.
I guess I'm lucky too as we lift the same weight in just about every exercise +/- 10%.
Training partners usually...
1. Can't keep up
2. bitch too much
3. Tell me to calm down
4. Try to talk to me when I'm getting fired up for a set
Thus I train alone, if I need a spot I ask for it.

i love to lift alone but sometimes bring a buddy along on days i know i will need a spot. When i lift alone i get more accomplished quicker but sometimes its good to have someone to compete with.
