Ok guys; a topic that got an argument started with some friends. Let's see what you all have to say.
Here is the question: How much time do you need to really get a good workout? (Assuming a perfect day at the gym).

I try to keep all workouts to 60 minutes. Sometimes it runs longer though.
hour, hour 15mins tops, if the people you arguing with spent 3-4 hours in the gym thinking this will lead to more hypertrophy, tell them they can forget it…
Get in gym, get out and show off those muscles. Hour normally but sometimes it runs over, just stay away from all those people trying to visit.
The "social lifters". Fun distractions aren't they?
more like annoying twats :lol:Quote:

45 minutes Cardio

I personally think anymore time that that I am wasting time working my jaw muscles (be nice, I mean talking).
there is a guy in my gym, he is a great dude but he spends 3+ hours everyday at the gym. I normally go in at 5am but T&Th I sometimes go in at 8am to do Cardio and this guy gets there and he racks some weight and walks around and talks.. then he does a set and then goes and sits down for 10-15 minutes and comes back and changes the weight and does another set.. then he will go into the gym office and talk for 15-20 minutes and he does this his whole workout.. I get my cardio done in 45 and he only get 3-4 sets done.. I have gone back a few hours later to tan or pick up a drink and he is still there.. I give him a hard time saying dude you need to not rest between sets as your body it getting cold and it is not good for you.. He just laughs and says "well I need to get my 3 hours in" WTF?? It is not like he goes anywhere after the gym he says he just goes home and sleeps.
Oh well just thought I would share that story but I am not sure why.
60 is plenty but I am a small dude so it does not take much for me get tired out.

I don't think it's cut and dry.
I can hit delts effectively in 15-30 minutes.
The same isn't true for Legs...or back.
Some pros train for 30 minutes...some an hour...some two.
The old-school Bodybuilders and Strongmen trained for 2-3 hours.
Who's to say what they did didn't work?
I think it's relative to the individual.
Not that i'd advise someone to be in the gym for 3 hours... 1 hour for the most part, is plenty of time imo.
But i'd be a hypocrite if i advised anyone on short sessions...when my training session average two hours in duration.
I do an hour and fifteen minutes. If I am feeling great and didn't notice the time this could be 1:30.
As soon as I puke or my intensity goes down, I leave.:aaGreen22
45-60 min is just enough time to demolish your muscles.
