I always hit them on back day because deadlifts are an important part of getting them to grow, and they probably make up 30-40% area coverage of the back so hell yeh, they are on the bloody back. People always put traps with shoulders and its misguided

That is what I've been thinking lately as well and wanted to double check with others. I always did them with shoulders for years, but have changed my routine.

i usually put them with shoulders as well, and i feel they are the part on my body that is lagging the most behind all my other muscles...i think i shall throw them in on back day for a couple weeks and see what happens

i do them with shoulders because i save them for last. I would be to tired on back day to really get a good/heavy shrug workout. But thats just me.

I have found that doing traps on shoulder day because they can be worked more frequently then other muscle groups. Dont quote me saying to work traps 3 times a week, but I think shoulder day first nicely..as long as it is a few days after back day. Sure, deadlifts do stimulate the traps a little bit, but I dont feel it much. I have had good success with doing them with shoulders for awhile now. Almost like doing back, and then incorporating an arm day several days later.

I prefer to do them on back day I believe that heavy enough deadlifts with strict form puts ample stress on the traps to ensure growth and may add a couple sets of shrugs.

I've rotated them and feel that they have grown more while doing them with shoulders. Traps are divided into 4 parts and the top half just seems to get a better workout during the shoulder day and the bottom half during back day. Just my opinion, but I would try them both and see which one shows more growth for you
