    ass too big for behind the back barbell shrugs

    behind the back barbell shrugs dont work well for me...i have an ass like a big bubble so when i do the exercise its really awkward. front barbell shrugs are no prob. id like to be able to do both tho...what can i do about this problem?

    use the smith machine and slightly lean forward...it should solve the problem

    Question, when you squat with a smith machine could you normally squat more with one then rather a regular rack? I always just used a smith b/c my gym lacks a squat rack, lame.

    i personally dont like the feeling of squatting under the smith machine. i feel like its restricting my movement and cant find a comfortable spot. its definatly better then no squatting at all though. it may be easier to do more weight with a smith machine as you dont have to balance or keep the weight under control. you can focus all your energy on getting the weight up.

    yup..I started the same thread here a few months ago and I was told to use the smith machine and lean forward slightly, and I also put my feet further behind me...works great

    i always use the smith machine for behind the back. Not because i have a bubble ass, but because by leaning forward causes you to incorporate the lower traps - great in combination with front shrugs.

    You'll definitely get mor traps for your money I agree, good idea to do that. The lower fibres right at the bottom are involved in downward rotation, depression and retraction of the scapulae though, such as in pullups, so its not possible to work those in shrugs. However, the "lower portion" of the traps really does include a lot of the mid trap fibres so you are right, I just can't help being technical because I'm sad

    use squats with more freq. said 25 time for 4 sets of course with light wt
    and u will feel hot and sweeting
    but u have down at a leavel of knee
