    Over training???

Hey guys i've got a buddy who has a crazy workout routine. i personally think it's over training but i told him i'd post it up and see what everyone thought about it heres his split.

he alternates intensities between heavy/medium/light workouts but none the less is in the gym for roughly 2 hours each night. this is scanned out of a book that he follows keep in mind he is also natural...

Also if this is overtraining for being natural what might be changed...and would this be overtraining if not natural? Thanks guys

    this totals to be
    m/w/f = 30 total sets at 6-10 reps each
    t/thurs/ = ~34 total sets at 6-10 reps each

It should be changed in general. Good grief, he's training the same body parts EOD! What book is this out of? What are the main goals of said split, hypertrophy? I can see training the same body parts E4D (like with conj. per., very common) or E3D at the very most... but EOD? Wild...

    Horrid over-training.

Chest/arms on Monday, then again on Wed? Then again on Fri??

All I can do is @ that.

There is no way in hell I could train the same parts Wed that I did Monday, as I am still SORE AS HELL and you GROW WHILE YOU REST. If you rest ONE DAY, you ain't growin' for shit.

that's where the alternating intensity comes in......it's alternated in a way so that you avoid overtraining and are still allowed to stimulate all your muscles three times a week.......i've never felt that i'm overtraining on this workout.

Whatever floats your boat, but intensity should always be max when you hit the gym.

Even lifting "light" or like a total pansy doesn't justify working out the same bodyparts again 48 hours later.

You'll never convince me, but that's not your goal anyhow.

well i'm open to change but the book states that working out all out all the time like that is very difficult and that adding the low intensity days in allows you to recover mentally for the next heavy session. And as such your never training one bodypart less hard than another due to inherent fatigue......i used to do a six day split (which i can't remember for some reason) and it was like the book says sometimes i'd end up not being able to push myself to the same intensity level every day and i'd start like usind certain bodyparts as "crutches" and training them less intensely.

i know you said that intensity should always be that max when you hit the gym.

But what have you found in respect to a split/ amount of sets/ etc. That works

for you? like i said i'm open to suggestion and if i find something i like better i'll

definately try it..................and your huge so what your doing is obviously working........

That's a waste of time going to the gym if your going to train like that. you're just wasting your time and my times to important. If i hit something like chest on monday it's soar for about three days i might hit it again on friday or saturday but i mostly go for the feel. My only problem is hitting biceps. there a B***h to get soar everytime. I used to overtrain all the time and i was stupid, i'm growing more now and i work out the bodypart less. i just hit it very hard. it's worth it in the end. and i keep my workouts to about an hour.

ok i am a firm believer that overtraining is bullshit flame me all you want
