    Thinner waist by overtraining abs?

I used to work abs without weight whenever I got the chance for 10-15 minutes, sometimes 5-6 times a week. I have read about some bodybuilders recently overtraining abs to keep a smaller waist, I now train them once a week or so with weights for 4-5 sets, my waist is bigger than it used to be, any thoughts on this?

Are you taking in more calories and expending less, now? Make a comparison here. This could be the explanation for an increasing waistline.

Is your strength training incorporating more multi-joint movements like deadlifts, squats, etc.? These will hypertrophy the stabilizing muscles of the trunk (mostly lower back).
