    toe IN vs toe OUT?

I forget - which hits the inner/outer calf muscles?

and how does one add LENGTH to the calf muscles? mine are bordering on "drumsticks"

I'm sorry, you are right. I got mixed up. I did perform this last night in the gym to see which way it was. And for me it was toe in = outer/ toe out = inner.

Well I was just goin on how it feels for me. That doesn't mean I am right. I know when I am doing calf raises and I have my toes in, my outer calves hurt like a mofo. same goes for out.

i believe donkey calf raises provide a great stretch, as far and Toes in=inner, toes out= outer, at least from my experience

I do toes straight, in and out. 20 reps for a total of 60 reps. 4 sets. They burn like hell. But my calfs are almost the same size as my arms. So I recommend doing all 3 positions.

damn, Carlos ... you ARE a maniac! but if it works, I guess I'm gonna have to up the intesity a bit ...
so if toes-out works the inner, and toes-in works the outer, what does toes-ahead work? J/K

thanks to everyone for their replies!

btw, anyone else out there doing toe-raises as well?

One more thing... I do them on leg press rack. I hang just the tips of my toes off the end of the platform. Pile on 8-10 plates and start doing raises. The people at my gym look at me like I'm nuts cause there are some guys who do that weight for leg presses. I think my calfs are a little over developed from gymnastics.

    Thumbs up Donkey calve raises!

A few years ago I use to go over to my buddys house and we would workout in his basement. When we did donkey calve raises we would push off the ceiling for more resistance. You couldn't wait to get him off your back because your calves were so pumped and burnin.
