dumbells or barbell?

I feel more of a pump from dumbells.

Depends on what exercise you're doing.

Better range of motion with dumbbells

I am only 5'8" so my arms are not real long. I agree with jemrick, way better ROM.

FLAT -- BARBELL
INCLINE -- DUMBELL
DECLINE -- DUMBELL

There is nohting like DECLINE Dumeblls :)
Nothing better for upper chest than Incline Dmbs, you just dont feel it with the bar.

dumbbells, but believe it or not, I feel more comfortable using a barbell for flat bench. That's just me.

I have seen much better results now that I quit using the bar and went to all dumbell exercises. The only problem I have is initially getting the heavier dumbells into position to lift, since I lift alone.

dumbbells b/c more muscles come into play.

Yes, doing heavy DB presses alone is bitchin.:help:

When I switched to DB's I saw much, much better results.

Better ROM with dumbells.

i do incline bensh press with barbell and dumbells in the same workout
barbell for bulking and dumbel for defining

with dumbells you use diff muscles to keep stable and your range of movement is increased. They are just a pain in the ass to use if you dont have a spot, i end up using half my energy just trying to get them in position.

i think u tend to feel the burn more with db cuz of the isolation factor and thats why you get more cuts with them too but db's can be a pain in the ass as they tend to wear down your wrist

I use dumbbells in my home gym, I've yet to invest in a barbbell.

Dumbells,greater range of motion and greater use of stabilizer mucles.

If this was a year ago, I'd say dumbells just cause I have a fucked up left rotator cuff and barbell exercises really hurt especially incline chest and military presses, front or behind. But now I say fuck it! I need to get my chest bigger and barbells will work better than dumbells, but I still use only dumbells on shoulders. But I still gotta get my shoulder checked out by an orthopedic to make sure I'm not fucking anything up severely.

you can handle more weight with barbells and achieve a better overload, with dumbells you get a better stretch

I say err on the side of caution and get the best of both worlds. I'll mix it up: barbells one chest workout, dumbells the next (though i confess to having a barbell preference on pressing movements). I figure this is the best way not only to keep my muscles guessing, but derive the benefits of each relatively simultaneously.

thats what i do one chest day i use dumbells the other i use barbels .....i am looking to get ripped as hell is this an efective method?

I prefer using a barbell for flat benching and dumbells for inclines.
