shocking development-- new routine
i tired something different a couple of months ago and it kicked ass so i thought i would share it
i tried it again before i posted because i always try something before i suggest something
as i've posted before my workout looks something like this
monday--chest/shoulders/tris
bench press 8-10 sets
1 other chest exercise 2 sets
floor press 4 sets
push downs 4 sets
front machine military 2-3 sets
dbell side lats 2-3 sets
wednesday---back/traps/bis
full or partial deads 6-8 sets
pull downs 4 sets
sometimes a row 2 sets
bar shrugs or dbell shrugs 4-6 sets
curls 2 different exercises different every workout for 2-4 sets each exercise total of 4- 8 sets
friday---legs
squats or leg press 6-8 sets
curls 2 sets
that is my usual workout pretty basic every set intense and heavy and each rep like its the last. i train mostly power lifting for power, size and strength. i gained alot of size from this and went up to 245 at 5-10 from this type of training at 14% body fat
so for my experiment
i tried something totally different--instead of all size training i decided to lean out a little while attempting to keep size and strength. on every fourth workout, which means 3 weeks at usually workout ,on fourth week i shock the muscles and do mostly machines for reps and each rep slow and strict. i've done this 2 times now and wow what a difference
example
monday--chest
hammer strength-- 2-3 work sets each different machine(incline, flat, wide)
flys 2-3 sets for 12+ reps
shoulders
superset press and dbell front, side, rear lats
tris
superset with rope pulls and push
wednesday--back
all machines different ones for 3-4 sets each total of 12 sets
dbell rolls for shrugs taking dbells up holding then rolling backward squeezing shoulder blades together
biceps all machines for reps
friday--legs
superset high and low leg press machines with extensions
what this is doing so far is shocking the muscles into getting harder and leaner without losing any strength and size.i love what its done my arms are still over 19" cold but now veins coming out and shoulders have done best with this as they are getting ripped.
maybe its just a complete shock to my body to rep train or maybe i discovered something that works great for me --only time will tell if it will keep working
