Lower back is killing me!!!
I know this belongs on another forum but I want some responses so I'll work in a steroid question somewhere. In between working and deadlifting at the gym my lower back started killing me today at work. I was doing heavy labor and doing alot of bending over and my back started aching. The pain was unbearable!!! I had to leave early to go to the Doctor and he put me on disability for 2 weeks. He thinks the combo of deadlifting and work has strained my back muscles. I really like deadlifts, and I think they cannot be beat for building up raw strength, besides power cleans, but I guess I'll just have to stop doing them. Any help, also I heard certain steroids give you insane lower back pumps, does this hurt or help?
DON'T FOOL AROUND WITH LOW BACK INJURIES!
Did your doc take an MRI? If not, and the pain persists, get one! Early diagnosis and could prevent a MAJOR problem down the road! Many docs will see an otherwise healthy, muscular male, and assume they are fine, and just have a muscle strain. They won't send you for an MRI. If your's won't, go to a different one!
If you have any pain radiating down your legs, that is a warning sign of a possible disc problem. You could have a minor disc bulge. If the bulge is large enough, or there is enough locallized swelling to push on a nerve, you will get radiating pain. If you have a small bulge, many times with rest, they will pull themselves back in. If you don't rest it, and allow it to heal, you could end up with a serious herniation, when the disc tears open. That can be crippling.... early diagnosis is the key. XRAYS don't show soft tissue. So don't let the doc tell you that there is no disc problem by looking at the x ray!
Listen to Titanium it's excellant advice
I'm just getting back to the weights after getting hurt at work last February.:( Hyperextended both knees, pulled both hamstrings & also tore the right a bit, sprained my left ankle. I was going through therapy and noticed when I was bending it felt like someone stuck an ice-pick in the left cheek of my ass. Pain down my left leg numb toes & sometimes fingers. Well the Dr. at work said there was nothing wrong with my back showed me the X-rays to prove it. The pain I would get was unbearable so I started searching online and called the Insurance Co. myself & got a referral to a specialist. After the MRI I found out I have 1 bulging & 2 herniated disks. I don't even want to see that douchebag company Dr. Get an MRI & make sure everything is O.K
B.T.W this is my first post & I hope it helps.
