The few times I've employed the technique I did high rep lat pulldowns (15-18) and followed them up with heavy barbell rows (4-6 range)...for me, anything other than this sharp contrast in reps seems to defeat the purpose of pre-exhausting this particular muscle group. Though, that being said, i have more than a few friends who use straight arm pulldowns to the thigh or the nautilus super pullover machine to effectively pre-exhaust back.
