    power lifting?

ok i've noticed many of you have made great gains by lifting very heavy, for a while i was always doing 3 sets of 10, so today i switched it up, kept doing heavier weight, and my reps dropped to like.. 8, 5, 4. do you think i would be getting a better workout if i stuck to my old method, because i felt like i was done too soon with too few reps this way. and maybe my form wasnt completely perfect since heavier weight is harder to deal with, i guess ill know by tomorrow if im not sore then back to my old way

I usually do 4-5 sets on basic excercises.
    Example: bench press
    set1-12
    set2- 10
    set3-8
    set4-6
    set5-4

    Squat
    set1-20
    set2-15
    set3-12
    set4- 8-10
    set5- 4-8

this way, you get to do the best of both worlds.
You could also do a drop set after your last set to get a good "burn".
For example; On your last set of benches when you reach failure, quickly rack the weight and strip off some weight and go to failure again.

    Just my opinion.

I too try to combine the best of both...one area I lack is quads...in fact, after reading Warriors opinions on how many reps it takes to hypertrophy the quads (18-20) i think it was, I am implementing 3 sets of 20 for the first three sets of squats and then three heavy sets at 6-8....but on most other excercises I pyramid the reps and weight to try and hit both ends of the spectrum...example on bench press I start at 185x15 and end up at 350x2 or 3....
