Gym Prices
Was wondering what everyone spends on gyms a month, and how many different gyms you visit. I go to 3. The city gym - I get for free cuz I work for the city.
Powerhouse $24/mo for life.
And well the 3rd I start next month - Lifetime fitness is opening - and it is $50 a month - open 24 hours and unlimited racquette ball - great for cardio - and the women - DAMN!

Btw - I rotate the gyms and spend the money because it breaks the cycle. I hate going and seeing the same people and waiting for the same things. Each gym seems to have different peak times, so I know when to hit each for "off peak" times. But most of all - I like to rotate the equipment. For instance the machine preacher curls seem to hit the bi's at a slightly different angle in each gym as they are different brand machines. Powerhouse has the best leg stuff around - the city has great free weights - 70% i use free weights, and lifetime has the cardio like crazy - about 20 different ways to do it - so bordom is low and nice clean pools - 3 of them ( i know cuz I had a trial at a lifetime located about 20 miles away).

My gym is $60 for the 1st member, and $21 for every additional member of the household. AND they are only open from 6-10, the hours suck!!

They charge $35 bux a month, but the gym seems good. They are open from 5am until midnight. We took a quick tour of the place, it's like one HUGE gymnasium, with all the free weights on the right side, and machines on the left side. There are like 5 flat benches, 3-4 incines, two cables machines, TONS of dumbells, looks like a great place.

I should also mention, that is $35 CANADIAN!!!
Divide by 1.5 for American price, which would be $23 U.S. dollars.

I'm paying $378 a year, $31.50 a month.
I really like the place . . . you walk in and they hand you a freshly laundered towel, no need to bring your own. They've got a pretty complete set of Icarian machines and another set of some other brand (I don't recall the name right off), and a full set of free weights, dumbells going up to 120 lbs. Never a line, it gets busy around 4-6 pm but never really crowded. Open 365 days a year (even Xmas day) and 24 hours a day. The place never closes. Pretty cool.

I used to go for free, because the guy who owned the gym, was an engineer at the mine i work at. new owner now, so i'll have to start paying.
The gym technically open 24/7 because everyone in town works on a 6 day on/ 6 day off roster, working 3 12 hr day shifts, then 3 night shifts then 6 off. so they need it to be open at night.
I'm not sure how much its gonna start costing, but chances are the new owner will work with me too, i might have to make friends with him too

Guess its cheaper elsewhere. I pay $139/mo for the Equinox. Its worth it because the have all the latest equipment and a great atmosphere so my workouts are good. Just the same with the exception of the 19th St gym thats $85 a month, I cant think of any of the chains here that are under $100/mo. NYSC is $109, Crunch is $129, NY Health and Raquetteball is $139, Chelsea Piers is $139. I wouldn't go to Bally's because they suck, and Synergy sucks.

24 HR has the 600 or 800 for 3 years, then every year after that is 99 bucks.

World Gym is the cheapest one in my area (except maybe Bally's which I won't even consider). It's $55/mo for the first member and $50/mo for the next. Some of the places around here with pool/raquetball cost well over $100/mo. Ahhh...it's always great being broke in Westchester!
