Front Squats: Are they necessary?
My workout partner is hell bent on us doing front squats. I hate squats all together, but these are an extra pain in the ass. Do they work your quads better than regular squat? What is the point of them?

Yes they do hit your quads better than regular squats by somewhat isolating them. It's just hitting your legs in a different way.

exactly the reason why you would do seated Dumbell curls are opposed to incline dumbell curls... different angle... and by lifting much lesser weights, it boosts strength and they are REAL hard.

They work ok, but nothing is better than a regular squat for leg mass. You just gotta squat.

my workout partner is set on doing them....i hate them! would it be ok just to do leg extentions on the machine instead as a substitute?

front squats are great if you suffer from huge ass syndrome, like myself. no matter what i do i feel a majority of the squat in my ass. geuss its casue of my long legs. i love front squats though, maybe try them in a smith machine.

ummm the bar shouldn't be on your coller bone (clavicle). There's 2 ways to do a front squat.
One is how you would do the olympic lifts, your grip is on the bar shoulder length apart. Your wrists will be in hyperextension and use your chest to help hold the bar up.
The other way is to cross your arms and hold them up. Rest the bar on the distal portion of your deltoid muscle.
Maybe someone can post some pics up of the 2 methods cuz i know my explanations are too clear

Front squats are great for building the tear drop in the inner quad.
