    should i do dead lifts?

Should i do dead lifts in my back workout, i already have 12 total sets with 4 exercises, should i get rid of one and add the dead lifts there
    right now i have :
    3 sets t-bar rows
    3 sets lat pull down
3 sets one arm dumbell rows
    3 sets chin ups

i want to change it to

    3 sets t-bar rows
    3 sets lat pull down
    3 sets dead lifts
    3 sets chin ups

another thing, i like to switch my back workout up, so what would be another exercise to take place of the dead lifts, for example for rows i do the t-bar rows, then i change up to barbell rows,
let me know what u think

Try adding them in and see how you feel, if you feel like crap or overtraining then give them a separate time. I do mine before one of my light cardio sessions.

Try both and see which way feels better. All-in-all it will be a personal thing bro, no one but you can tell you what your body will like better.

jurewix- tyr doing all 5 exercises, you'll be able to tell if you're overtraining. Just give it a try and see how it goes.

Not right away but in a period of time you will notice you are getting weaker or feeling shitty. That is how I can tell. Then amazingly you start to do less and you grow more and get stronger, overtraining is a very strang thing.

Here's an ex. of one of my back routines, now jurewix, I'm not saying this will work for you, it's just an ex.

    Warm-up: 3 sets of 15 pull-ups
    deadlifts: 2 warm-up sets, 4 working sets 8,8,6,4
cable rows: 4 working sets of 8-10 reps
    lawnmower's: 4 working sets of 8-10
lat pulls: 4 working sets of 8-10

I rotate the deads with some iso-row machines my gym has every other week. Yes in a couple of weeks you will notice if you're oertraining or not. Just listen to your body.

Lawnmowers- use dumbells, rest one hand and one knee on a bench, lean over and pull the dumbell up to yuor side, just like starting a lawnmower. If that still has you confused I'll try to explain more.

oh shit, yea I do them. Great name.

Hey Tex have you ever heard about a workout called farmers workout? I saw this kid in the gym doing some crazy things. One of the exercises he was him doing was a shrug walking like 50 feet with Db's in hand. It looks good for a mi up.

LOL, what is the walking doing. If you are doing traps then concentrate on them, if you are doing legs concentrate on them. Don't try to combine workouts.

I switch deads every other week with the iso-row machines at my gym. The weight I use on my deadlifts haven't suffered either.

OH..i guess i'd call those 1 arm dumbbell rows then.. I misread your post and thought you said you did them sitting down. I've done that walkin shrug workout before, but that's more of a powerlifting type workout as regular shrugs are just as effective for hitting the traps..the walking shrug works grip and forearms also.

actually check out the august 2002 issue of muscle & fitness it includes the "farmers walk" as a trap exercise. but u have to use really heavy weight ur not shrugging as your walking ur walking with the weight you walk 100-200 feet fast like under 20 secs. if you think about it if you've ever carried heavy luggage for a while when ur walking, ur traps are what burn.
