I want to buy A smith Machine

Hey bros I have been thinking of buying a smith machine what do you guys
think of it. Over all do you think its worth the money?????

do u have ur own gym....? its a nice piece of equipment but i dont think it has that many great uses. the best use being squats. others use it for bench press and other presses because its a convenient spot but i dont like the added resistance it applies to the motion. some smith machines allow the bar to drop at an angle, others allows the bar to drop straight down. id get the version with the bar dropping striahgt down because when u do a press that is normally the correct motion (vertical). but overall i dont think its worth all that money because they are expensive and they dont have that many worthwhile applications

I have one at my house. I like it because it is extremely safe to use when you are working out alone with no one else at the house.

I would have to agree that gains are limited because of the single path it follows. You will find you get really strong along only that path. Best to mix it up.

But it is safe, conveinent, and minimizes chances of injury...

Yes I do but I just thought adding one to my home would complete it some.
Then I also work out alone I have freinds but there lazy every single one of
them. So I thought the smith Machine would be Ideal.

Personally I only use a smith machine for pullups. I think they are a waste of money. If you want something that you can do at home buy some dumbells and an adjustable incline/flat bench and have money left over out of that 1700.

Powertec Retails for 1299.00 got it for 875 and its just fine for the home!!

I'd get a power rack/cage instead if I were you. It allows more free movement... is more versatile.... cheaper... still takes the place of a spotter.
