    Deadlifts

I just bought a book EXTREME GROWTH and it doesn't mention deadlifts for back. Just for overall mass or for leg day.
Now, how does it work the LATS NOT the lower back, but the LATS?
Does it do it at all, or only when done incorrectly?

I would say lower back and legs all depends on how you do it like straight legged deadlift or regular deadlift. Never felt any soreness on the lats after deadlifts though

From my understanding and from different readings deadlifts works a broad range of muscle in the back. I've been told it works damn near every muscle in your back when done correctly. I could be wrong, but have felt sore in my lower back, lats, even my traps from doing deadlift.

I use deadlifts for my lower back and lats. I've made big strides in my lower lat development ever since I've started doing this.

I first start my back workout with wide grip chins, then do a close grip cable row, then I hit my back with deadlifts.

I find that if I do it after the first two excercises, then my back is pre-exhausted and I get a good lower lat and overall back pump. I always try and keep the bar close to my legs when lowering it and make sure to bend my knees quite a bit and keep my back arched.

I also try to pull the bar back when I bring it back up and flex my back as much as possible once I'm at the top of the movement.

It also hits my hamstrings quite a bit, but that's a plus since I wouldn't mind extra seperation and definition back there too.

I think it works your lats as a stablizer, but not directly. I think it hurts so much in the legs and lower back, you forget about the feeling in the lats!

I think it all depends how you lift the weight. If you lift the weight with your arms first and then finish with your legs, then I can see where it would work the lats to some degree. However, if you're just lifting with your lower back and legs, then i don't see where lats would be involved.
