Caliper Measurements to calculate Bodyfat %
Group,
I have been REALLY dedicated to my training and diet since February. I am extremely happy with my results thus far. I credit the majority of my progress to the moderators and experienced bodybuilders who post here.
Feb 2013 19.2% bf @ 172lbs
May 2013 14.8% bf @ 181lbs
July 2013 13.6% bf @ 186lbs
Now, on to my question. When a caliper measurement is taken, and then you are re-measured, what does the thickness of the measurement actually telling you? For example, My chest measurement was measured, it was 16mm, then in July, it was 8mm. Does this mean I lost 8mm of bodyfat or 8% bodyfat in my chest? When I was measured for size, my chest measured 42.5" in May. In July it was 41.5". I assume this means that I DID put on muscle and at the same time cut the bodyfat in half. (I realize you can't spot reduce)
Can you tell me if I am correct in my thinking?
