deadlifts essential when you want to build the best back you can ?

so to build the best back you possibly can, can you achieve that still withough deadlifts and just alot of t-bar rows, bent over rows etc etc. do you think there are any pro's that have never done a deadlift or is it essential to building a BIG back ?

Mmmmm deads. Why not do them if you're physically able? My favorite lift.

I think dead its very essential to build a big back. Still, i know some pretty big guys that do NOT do this exercise and still got big backs. You can always replace some exercises with this or that, but its always recommended to use the baselifts like deads, benchpress, squats and militarypress because they give most bang for the buck. Just to "replace" deads you would have to use both row and some other exercise for lower back!
