    weights once a week

I got my GF to start going to the gym and came up w a solid meal plan for her. I was going to have her do 3 full body days Tu,Th,Sa, 2 cardio W,Su.
Did weights Sa, cardio Su. Theres lots of details you guys dont care about, so cutting out a bunch of details, we are now left with cardio only once during the week, weights on Sa, cardio Su. I told her not to bother with the weights on Sa, once a week would just be a waste of time, and just to do cardio on all 3 days.
Would you guys agree that once a week is a waste of time? She is completely untrained. Shes average weight (medically, not to American standards where average is over-weight).

I would keep the weights in even if its only once per week .. the mechancial tension and metabolic stress provided from weight training is far less adaptive then cardio. the body adapts to cardio extremely efficiently. but weight training , provided the load is there and intensity is there, is far more stimulating and less chance of adapting to.
so doing this even once per week can provide more positive benefits then simply jumping on a treadmill and going though the motions of something her body has adapted to.

if your body has adapted to doing 20 minutes of cardio 3x per week on a treadmill at a pace of 3mph and an incline of 2, then eventually that becomes no longer a workout. once adapted to it just becomes part of weekly energy expenditure and not a metabolic stimulus .
which is fine if your goal is just to waste/dump energy

its much easier to provide a real stimulus with weights. even it its only once per week.

if she does want to stick to only doing cardio . then I'd at least mix it up .. one time do the treadmill, next do the treadmill at an intense 10 incline, next time do a spin bike, next time a rower . etc. etc.. that way you keep your body from so easily adapting

Weight training only once per week is definitely not a waste of time. You can actually make some decent gains with infrequent workouts if you do things correctly.

That is a problem, she doesn't have any goals (she wants to admit). I figure she would be happy if she felt healthier and pants fit a little better, but I'm speculating. So I really wanted to add weights in there for that reason. But her cardio vascular health is trash.
    So I figured:
    1 day weights + 2 days cardio < 3 days cardio
Thinking she wasn't going to get much from the weights, and she needs the CV health. I just told her for cardio to do whatever she wanted as long as her heart rate was above 120bpm for 30 minutes straight

Well, seems like I need to reconsider. Weights 1 a week is better than I thought.
    Thanks everyone

Install a stripper pole in your house. Pole dancing is very good for burning calories and increasing strength and coordination. It’s fun as well so she’ll enjoy it which means she’ll keep up with it. If you’re really lucky she’ll get her friends into it and they’ll all be down at your place using it. It’s like a squat rack for women.

Buy her a cowgirl hat and have her ride you for 20-30 minutes 2-3 times per day. That is real cardio that will give results.

I am being 100% serious. Sex is the best cardio investment you can do. Makes the stair master look like garbage by comparison.

You are asking for 29-30 minutes, what happens if he’s a 30 second man. LOL

She made it 4 days before quitting
She kept saying I didn't have her eating enough. I had her eating 400 calories more per day than she usually does. I explained that the more food plus exercise got her metabolism going, she didn't believe me.
It pisses me off when people contradict me about something they know nothing about, I live this shit. Don't question me. She just wants to believe I'm wrong so she can justify being lazy. Her CV health is shit, she sits at a desk job all day, then comes home and lays in bed watching TV for the rest of the day. She's only skinny because she eats so little, but it's shit food.
    I don't understand people

    It will piss you off.
They just dont have the same desires man.

I had mine workout with me for a month or so and lift and home.
I said tge scale wont move but you will lose fat.
    She was shredding fat.

    I complimented and encouraged.
She quit and her weigh dropped twenty lbs over the next month.

    She said I dont understand!?
I said that is muscle and water being pissed away. You arent getting skinnier than you were before you quit. You are just losing what you achieved.

    Made no difference.
It went down and she put it right back on.

You cant make some people understand the concept of suffer for reward.
Tgats why they have 5 million easy diet ways to lose 20lbs.

If they want easy they will never achieve a damn thing

    Right?
I like said before, I live this shit. Don't question me on what's going on. When I say scale weight means nothing, listen. If you drop weight after and assume it's fat and i say otherwise, believe me. If the scale goes up and I say it's muscle not fat, believe me. You've been doing it 3 hours a week, ive been doing it 10 hours a week for 6 years. Plus I spend another 15+ hours a week learning about it. Oh, but you went to the gym for a week and think you know more than me, okay
She's off the diet I put her on now too. Said I didn't have her eating enough. Put her own diet together. It ended up being the same amount of calories, the macros are trash, and the fats are all unhealthy sources. Mine said she would do a month, she didn't last a week
