Everyone is diff, you know that. Some ppl like to stick to brands that they have good luck with, i personally like nike. When i buy shoes, i run around with em outside before i buy them.

BTW i'm assuming you're talking about big ol clunky running shoes, not the spikes that sprinters wear.

Hands down Nike Shox. Never wore a better running shoe. They have sick ones with the shocks all the way from the front to the back, probably the best running shoe $ can buy (probably around $180-200!)

I ran a boat load in the Corps and did a lot of aerobic training for a 3 mile run time. New Balance was my favorite... shit, I got a pair of the NB 830's on right now - love 'em

Nike fan here. Go to a running shoe store, they will be able to offer good advice. Also consider trying insoles, I tried em and have never looked back.

used nikes for years and loved them. However ever since I changed over to New Balance no turning back. Most triathletes seem to opt of New Balance these days. So that should tell you something.

Just some FYI I am currently use the New Balance 1040's and love them.

Not a woman's shoe expert by any means, but I believe Nike makes Shox for women. Check out www.nikerunning.com Also, the shox look the best IMHO and why bust our ass in the gym to look good only to have some jank shoes?

Awwwww...sneakers...that's so cute! I haven't heard that word in a while.

Personally...I'm Adidas. I just some A3's and they seem great.

However when I ran track competitively I went with Saucony or Asics. $$ but worth it.

Well, I have to say New Balance. I have a pair of 800's that Ive had since high school track days. I still run in the SAME pair and Im in my 3rd year of college. I have the Nike Shox which Ive said before, in my opinion, suck. Most Nike's I have ran in make my feet and knees hurts. I would def. go with NB's they are by far the best.....

asics gels there about $140 but worth every penny. Down In running world -Eugene OR- they have like 10 shops that will form fit and/or find shoe for your needs. It kind of embaressing they make you run outside before u buy any shoe but probably well worth it. Funny part is that then they call another guy out to watch you say he puts tomuch wieght on heel or one foot etc... kind of funny.

All the major brands make very good running shoes. The key is to get a pair that fit your running and walking style. The best thing to do is to go to a store that specializes in running shoes. The staff will have you run on a treadmill and watch how you run. They check for things like over-pronation (how your feet hit) and how your arches are, that kind of thing. Then you will be recommended a shoe that is either a cushioning shoe, a stability shoe, or a more neutral shoe. Once you know what type of shoe you need, you go to the brand you want and select the proper type for your foot. Also, once you know what kind of foot and stride pattern you have, you can look at the shoe reviews in running magazines, where they will categorize the shoes by types.
For what it's worth, my wife has a pair of the Nike Shox. She hates running in them. Just the type of foot she has I suppose.

You see what HYBRID is saying def. plays a factor in choosing shoes DANIELLE. You see Nike Shox hurt the hell out of my feet, but I got friends who love them. I really depends on how your feet "pronate" when you run and how your foot dorsi and plantar flexes as you run ( the up and down motion of the foot). I still think NB's are the best. I have two friends whom work at shoes stores. One is the district manager of Athletes Foot and the other is the Gen. Manager of Finish Line. Both of them agree NB's are the best for distance, while nike/adidas are best for the short sprints w/comfort.....

You shoudl go to a running store and have an associate help you out. A real running store, not foot locker or champs. They will watch you run on a treadmill and tell you what shoe type is best for your strike patern and then look at your foot and tell you what brand has the best last to fit you. I used to run 75+ miles a week, and the right shoes made all the difference in shin splints, back pain, etc. So, my advice is to let a professional fit you with the perfect ride.

p.s. good socks go a long way, too. I like Air-E-Ators and Wright Socks.

The North Face Vapor Lights are a tight ass shoe. Also Montrail makes a great running shoe for trail and road.
