Pre-Workout Meal
What does everyone have before their workouts? I always seem to choose something too heavy that tends to make me sluggish. What do you guys think gives a nice sustained energy for your workouts?

Well you wanna make sure you eat 45minutes to an hour before you workout. You dont wanna workout right after you eat because you will feel "sluggish" as you said. The reason for this is that your body is digesting the food and most of the blood flow is to the stomach not to the muscles being worked.
I usually eat some sort of fruit before I go workout. Usually an apple, banana or pear just to get some sugars for energy. Also, tons of water.

Aren't you supposed to do the whole protein/creatine/glutamine shake thing before (and after) you workout?

After a workout, you are supposed to take a protein shake 30 - 45 minutes after. I was told by a trainer that your body can full take advantage of the protein at that time period.

I am currently in bulking mode so I have a full meal 2hrs before and a weight gainer shake (50g protein, 80g carbs) 1 hr prior to lifting. Repeat same thing when i am finish just in reverse...weight gainer followed by full meal.

i eat my meal an hour before working out. Otherwise i feel sluggish too. If I wait an hour and a half i feel even better but that just doesnt seem right. Leg days are the worst--I always think I'm gonna throw up
