    Don't want to sound like a chick, but I think my @$$ is getting big...

    ...I've been squatting like a mother****er lately, and while I'm reaping dividends in the quads and hams, if i'm objective, i'm reaping just as much, and maybe more so in the glute department. The downside to this is that I don't want a big ass (**** it to hell, why couldn't my chest or biceps have this kind of proclivity towards hypertrophy?!?!?).

    I currently squat as close to "ass-to-the-grass" as my frame allows...a true and full squat that resembles a baseball catcher's position at the bottom (except without the knees ahead of the toes and such..i'm sure you get the idea). Anyway, I've heard that coming short of this full depth or shifting to front squats are the two best options. I've toyed with front squats and don't find them incredibly comfortable (though I'd consider looking into the sting ray, or whichever piece is used for front squats) and somehow i think doing 3/4 or 7/8 squats may not be the best idea either, as I'd be hard pressed to repeat the same percentage of full everytime, setting myself up for injury if and when I deviated too far from my norm.

    Have you measured your glutes?

    Bro, when you cut your glutes will be shredded... and it helps bring out your ham/glute seperation.

    LOL, i never thought to measure, but there is NO question that they've taken on the "outward jut" of a relief pitcher. Still solid, still very little fat (relatively speaking)...sadly, my glutes have ALWAYS, since before i touched a weight, been a strong and muscular bodypart for me. I wished for chest and biceps as a kid, got delts and glutes...oh well, you deal with hand you were dealt.

    Sorry BG... I didnt really answer your questions...

    #1 Do squats everyother leg day
    #2 Foot placement... try placing your feet almost together and see how it feels for you.. it'll hit your outer quad more and less strain on your glutes.

    Man I feel your pain...I am in the same boat. When I squat I go deep as hell but my ass grows like a weed.

    I'm going with your suggestion to EOW squats. It's somewhat tough, as I feel like I'm violating some dogmatic principle of leg day, but I'm thinking it'll work out in the long run. I've taken to hitting lunges and box step ups with a loaded barbell, in addition to playing with hack squats as best I can without a hack squat machine (barbell hacks and smith machine hacks). I'll keep you guys posted.

    I too have that big ass muscle, but it's ok.. the only time i notice it is when im walking next to a window and you notice that both cheeks alternatley exploid with each step,,, kinda funny really but I think the chicks dig it.
